Information sur le cours

Lakeland College - Animal Science Technology

Alberta

Cours offert en anglais seulement / Course offered in English only

If further study is not our immediate objective, this program prepares the student for large animal husbandry and production. A partial list of student skill development includes livestock physiology, prevention and treatment of disease, feeds and feeing, facilities, breeding and financial record management. These competencies are acquired through a balance of classroom lectures, laboratory sessions on the Lakeland College farm, and field trips. Through their two years of study, students explore basic sciences, work with live animals, and develop real industry plans. Second year students are required to enrol in a selection of production courses.

Graduates are prepared for a career in agriculture service or husbandry industries. Employment options include operation and management jobs with feedlots, swine companies, dairy farms, mixed farms, farm service dealers, livestock sales/service, and livestock technical support.
