This is a one year, full time , certificate (32 weeks) on the Vermilion campus. It includes a 4 week practicum, which will be done in a Veterinary hospital of the student's choosing, with assistance from the program advisor.

The graduate of this program will have the skills required to work as a receptionist in a Veterinary hospital or Clinic.This person will work primarily " up front " of the clinic, with the owners of the patients. They will perform basic receptionist duties, such as admitting patients, selling product, handling cash, cashing out at end of the day . They will also answer common questions about Veterinary care, vaccinations, parasites, nutrition etc. They will be involved very little in the actual treatments or procedures done with the animals, though they will have some training in animal restraint and behavior. The person who would be best suited for this job, is one who enjoys animals and is interested in animal health, but doesn't want to be involved as much in the hands on work in the back. They would be very people oriented, and enjoy one on one interaction with owners.
