Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (Fairview Campus) - Equine Horse Training

Alberta

Cours offert en anglais seulement / Course offered in English only

This unique program will provide you with three ingredients for success — top notch instruction, practical hands-on training, and the loan of a good quality registered 2-year old horse provided by the college. Not only will you learn how a young horse is trained, but your own Western riding skills will be enhanced. Fifty per cent of class time is spent in the arena riding or working with the horses and the focus is always on safety.

In partnership with the Wild Rose Equine Ranching Association, we have both foals and yearling horses on our campus farm, as well as the two-year olds used in the program.

Fifty per cent of class time is spent in the arena riding or working with horses. NAIT’s Fairview campus, formerly Fairview College, is known for its low student-teacher ratio — this ensures that you and your horse will receive personalized attention in class.

Horse Training is one of the two majors available in our Equine Studies program. Both majors provide a solid foundation in horse health, nutrition, first aid, diseases and disorders. Students learn to operate and manage a breeding farm operation, stable or other equine business. The planning and conducting of a major equine event provides hands-on experience.
