2004 Managing Excellence in Agriculture Conference

Managing Agricultural Globalization: Challenges and Opportunities

Why a conference on excellence in agriculture?

Success in agriculture today requires more than first-class production techniques – excellence in farm management is increasingly the critical factor which separates successful farms and those struggling to survive.

Managing Globalization:Challenges and Opportunities was the fourth in a series of the acclaimed Excellence in Agriculture conferences aimed at promoting high-level farm management practices.

Like its predecessor, this conference was a forum for presenting and examining the leading edge concepts of successful farms worldwide. The Excellence conferences are also occasions to allow forward-thinking farm managers to network and build alliances for future business.

Objectives for Excellence in Agriculture 2004 were:

  • To discuss the implications of a global environment that is fast-paced, rapidly changing and highly unpredictable for Canadian agriculture in transition.

  • To highlight and identify news and noteworthy areas in farm management in order to succeed in economic transformations and overcome uncertainty associated with globalization.

  • To stimulate contact between farmers, advisors and agribusiness at the national level.
