2003 Managing Excellence in Agriculture Conference
Objectives
The Canadian Farm Business Management Council (CFBMC)
is Canada's only national organization devoted exclusively
to developing and distributing farm management information.
The Council's raison d'être is the belief
that management skill, not production expertise,
is the critical element for success in agriculture
in the 21st century. In order to develop and continually
enhance their management skills, Canadian producers
need access to practical, low-cost and easily accessible
management tools and information.
It is supported by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada
through the Canadian Adaptation and Rural Development
fund (CARD), which support projects that make Canadian
agriculture more self-reliant.
Why a conference on excellence
in agriculture?
According to an independent evaluation done by PRAXIS
Research & Consulting Inc., participants of
the Ag Excellence Conference 2001 were very supportive
of the conference, indicating it was useful for
gaining new knowledge on approaches to farm management,
networking with other in the industry and improving
their communications and management skills. 80%
of respondents reported applying information they
acquired at the conference to their business. The
high rate (93%) of attendees who would definitively
attend another such conference hosted by CFBMC is
further evidence on the success of the event.
